Join our amazing team for LEADER 2020-2021
Thank you for your interest in the LEADER Project. LEADER is the most unique and exciting extracurricular program available at Ivey. Students who are selected to participate in LEADER benefit from unparalleled insight into global, private sector driven development projects, unique cultural experiences, and create an impact in both emerging economies and the Ivey community.
Each year, LEADER sends a team of Ivey students to a number of sites, where they teach foundational business administration and entrepreneurial skills through the case method and one-on-one coaching. Volunteer instructors from the MBA, HBA, MSc and PhD programs undergo training to then take part in a mutually beneficial experience that allows them to build a unique skill set. In 2019, 28 students travelled to Ethiopia, India, Macedonia, Nepal, Russia and Serbia.
Being involved in LEADER will give you exposure to Ivey faculty, the Dean, prominent alumni, and an opportunity work with Ivey students from other programs. With over two decades since inception, LEADER has 800+ alumni across Canada and the world.
To be eligible for the Project, you must:
- Be available to travel abroad for 2-4 weeks in April and May
- Have a passport valid for 6 months following the departure dates
- Commit approximately 5 hours per week, consisting of meetings and individual assignments
- Attend 3 Teaching Training days on weekends between January – March
- Provide a $1000 deposit, which will be returned provided you reach your $1000 fundraising target
LEADER has made tremendous progress in recent years and we are seeking individuals committed to continuing this trend. LEADER is a significant undertaking as the work level is consistent throughout the year, but the rewards are unrivalled. The successful execution of the project is not from the work of just one person, but rather the entire team. We are seeking students that are highly driven, dedicated, professional, and adaptable team-players.
To ensure that the program is successful, participants are asked to volunteer for a committee to help support the program. The committees for 2018 include:
- Curriculum: Develop content for the 2018 trips and facilitate instruction preparation
- Fundraising & Social: Organize events to raise funds and build relationships amongst LEADER participants
- Logistics: Coordinate logistics across each project site
- Marketing & Communications: Build and enhance LEADER's external profile through traditional and social media
